The blogging world. I’m absolutely terrified. And excited. Well, first and foremost terrified. Why? Because there are thousands of people in this world that I would love to meet, and it makes my own world – the world in my head, the small world of me and my family and my friends and my studies and all that – so very small in comparison. I am terrified that I am but one person presenting something that I love – writing – to thousands of people who have had their fair share of life, and love, and pain, and frustration, and happiness, and enjoyment, and growth. I am terrified to share a piece of myself – my words and my writing – on such a powerful and influential tool in our modern generation.
So I’ll do my best. I can only really do my best, right? And I hope that you’ll join me. No, in fact, please help me along the path of growth and progress; because ultimately, I’m just a beginner here, so I’ll definitely be needing it!
This blog is my way into a world that is currently unknown to me: the realm of authors and playwrights and poets and bloggers and those people who try to make a difference with words. I think that I am to become one of them. Or rather, I feel that perhaps I’ve been bound by the ‘Red Thread’ to do so.
Have you heard of the ‘Red Thread’ before? It’s the idea that two people are bound together from the moment of their conception, but at that one moment in time when they meet, destiny comes in effect and the world, the universe, God, will ensure that those two people are together regardless of the damage it might cause as a consequence.
That’s how I feel about writing. That’s how I feel about telling stories. Sometimes by reading a story, you can try to understand someone else and learn something, and maybe it’ll make a difference to your life. That’s what I want. I want to make a difference. I want people to consider another perspective. I want people to look beyond themselves and realise that it’s the new generation who can really make a difference. Perhaps that’s an unrealistic aspiration, but you won’t know until you try, right?
My perspective: a 21 year old K-Pop and J-Pop fanatic, a graduate trained in Theology, a lover of languages but crap at Maths and Science (which only bothered him at GCSEs), and an aspiring writer – poetry, plays, novels, short stories, theses and dissertations, letters, gossip, whatever.
I love writing but I’ll have to admit it. I’m still learning. Always learning. Yet, I feel that writing might be something that is fundamentally bound to me by the Red Thread. So, I want to tell stories from my perspective. One perspective in billions. No more valid than anyone else’s, but also just as valid as anyone’s.
Just so that you get an idea, my blog will focus on my writing, and anything that influences it. This could be the music that I’ve been listening to (being an avid audiophile), or my own day-to-day occurrences, or something I’ve seen (an image, photo, painting, or even a person), a conversation I’ve had, anything that has influenced me. I’ll tag it as accordingly for easy access (in case you aren’t particularly interested in K-Pop or me ranting about an issue that for you might not be!)
I want to convey my whole process of writing, from the initial spark all the way to the final words of the story, and of course, that includes the great music, the people I’ve met, the conversations I’ve had, the places I’ve been, the tears I’ve shed, and that extra glass of ginger ale that I’ve drunk, everything contributes to the overall means of writing a short story, novel, or poem.
So, join me! Lend me your support! Let’s make the journey together!
