WEB-SERIAL: THE RED THREAD ~ EP. 8

Standard

Okay…so I guess a massive apology is in order. Life takes over and…well, you know the rest. There’s no way I can really apologise except to actually post…so…

Let’s just get right to it. In my act of a revivification (yes, this is a word!), I post the next episode of the Red Thread.

I should also announce that I’m heading to Japan next week – cherry-blossom is rising, and Tokyo awaits! Of course, for me, Japan has proven to be a great source of inspiration. But it’s also made me aware that one very important cliche that I want to capture. Cherry-blossoms – sakura – signify transience. They bloom once a year, and during that time, people celebrate in its cerise. But they are also aware that whilst the cherry-blossoms are beautiful, the falling petals are also a symbol of decay. But people are still drawn to them, still enchanted and entranced by them, despite being aware that they only last a couple of weeks.

It’s paradoxical, and yet it’s also an emotion that’s hard to articulate. I really want to capture that feeling. I hope that going to Japan will help secure the words to express it.

I intend to post when I’m there, so watch this space!

In the meantime, if you haven’t already checked out my web-serial so far, just click the menu on the left, or click the link for Episode 1.

If you have been keeping up, then this is probably the best time to re-read the previous episodes! (I don’t want to give any spoilers to new readers!)

WEB-SERIAL: THE RED THREAD ~ EP. 7

Standard

I’m so, so sorry! This post is LONG overdue. I have various voices in my head telling me that I should have posted something sooner. But these two weeks have been quite hectic and hellish (which isn’t really a valid excuse!). But finding time to write has been relatively hard recently.

Anyway – enough with me. Episode 7.

To those of you familiar with me, you know what to do! Let me know what you think!

WEB-SERIAL: THE RED THREAD ~ EP. 6

Standard

Back again! Apologies for the delay! This week has been unbelievably busy shifting around. But I’m finally back, and will (hopefully!!!) be more active over the next few weeks!

So — what you’ve all been waiting for: Episode 6! And I’ve done something ‘interesting’ with it. This episode (and the next few) are written from Emilia‘s perspective, not Mei’s. Hopefully, this episode will be the one that begins to draw things together. There are definitely secrets. There are so many secrets…and there’s very little people can do it about it…!

Just to recall: in the last episode, Mei’s brother, Hiro, had run away from home and showed up on their doorstep, where he spent time with the group. The same evening, Mei walks in on an argument that has exploded between Tristan and Delilah. No one knows what’s going on, and Tristan says nothing about it. But Mei isn’t that concerned. It’s really Emilia that gets the brunt of it…

So, here’s episode 6. Again, please let me know what you think, and if you aren’t already, you can follow me by entering your email address in the left sidebar and on Twitter @tmir92

Enjoy!

WEB-SERIAL: THE RED THREAD ~ EP. 5

Standard

Hey everyone! Okay, so an update — episode 5! A friend of mine was not pleased with the cliffhanger from last week, so I promised that I would post today to make up for it!

Hope that you’ve been enjoying it so far. Again, please, please, please send me your thoughts and comments. I would really love to hear from you.

I’m also hoping that from next week, when I get back to university, I’ll be posting more often (having regained my normal routine!) If you want me to talk about certain things, let me know!

As for the web-serial, I’m thinking about shaking things up a bit: a change of perspective. As much as I love Mei, it’s sometimes far more interesting to watch things unfold from the sidelines.

So, I’ll leave you with one thought: what do you do when you know a secret that could potentially ruin everything? Keep quiet, or be honest? It’s a problem we’ve all faced at some point in our lives, whether minor  or major. However, for the characters in The Red Thread, it could mean a complete shift in their relationships…

So, stay tuned for the next episode!

If you’re just checking out this space for the first time, don’t panic! The episodes are relatively short, so check them out:

I do apologise for one thing though: so far, it’s just been my web-serial that I’ve been publishing. But I finally get back into some normal routine next week, expect some more rants, and more reviews on books, music, and things that influence me — I’m even considering vlogging….!

Oh! Also, if you’re interested to learn more about me, you can check out my ‘life-story’ (whatever this means!) by clicking here.

So far, what do you guys think? Please leave a comment about who your favourite character is, and what things you think I’m missing.

Loving the feedback I’m getting, so thank you so much!

SO, episode 3! Just as a recap:

Mei Shinenaga, a 23 year old Japanese-born student-doctor has recently moved from London with her energetic and determined best friend and colleague, Emilia Jacobs. As they leave London, they somehow come across an old friend of Emilia’s, Yue Russell. Exotic (being half-Chinese, half-English), attractive, flirtatious, a joker, it turns out that Yue is following Mei and Emilia to their university to do a Masters. But to Emilia’s great dismay, Yue is being accompanied by none other than the distant, cool, and surprisingly untalkative Tristan Leannán*, the heartthrob of Emilia’s high-school, who disappeared right after A-Levels. By the time that everyone collects for the start of the new term, Tristan, with no place to live now that Yue has found a new girlfriend to sharing his accommodation, ends up living with Emilia and Mei, despite their hesitation.

(* Yes, I have changed Tristan’s surname…!)

If you haven’t read them already, you can read the previous episodes by clicking the links below:

Episode 2

Okay, I’ll have to admit that this episode is also a bit slow. But isn’t the fact that Tristan is living under one with Emilia and Mei already quite dramatic?!

Enjoy! I might be cheeky and release Episode 4 slightly early…so keep watching this space!
